Remember when you could play outside until the street lights came on and everybody knew your name....
Piedmont Lake is a gated community of about 200 families.
Young families and retirees
share the natural environment, a since of place and community.
A planned community for sustainable natural resources was and is today, the hallmark of the Callaway family, the original developers of Piedmont Lake, Pine Mountain, Georgia. We are a 200 family gated community on large wooded lots, surrounding a beautiful 230 acre lake.
During World War II, Warm Springs (adjacent to Pine Mountain, Georgia) provided a place for President Roosevelt and his wife to call home as the President met with world leaders and negotiated American participation in the war in Europe and the Pacific. The Roosevelt’s abiding friendship with the Callaway family grew as did their mutual love of protecting the natural environment. From those beginnings the Callaway family built the culture of an eco-friendly community for both Piedmont Lake, Pine Mountain, and LaGrange, Georgia. The FDR state park was the dream of President and Mrs. Roosevelt. The Callaway family's dream of Callaway Gardens came to be an international attraction. To this day the Callaway family works to build on the legacy begun so many years ago. Callaway Gardens is a world class resort with easy access for travelers as well as those of us who call Piedmont Lake and Georgia home.
These two great families knew “bigger is not always better”, and the residents of Piedmont Lake manage the community in their mutual pursuit of perfection within a natural environment. Piedmont Lake does not mirror other communities. We are a community of staunch individualists with a common love of nature along with two unique American of attributes, our respect for one another’s privacy and love of community.
